About the Scholarships

The Joel Goldenberg Memorial Scholarship Program is named for a past president of the Boston Area Chapter whose wish was to support the educational pursuits and career development of talented individuals. Scholarship awards are merit-based and target individuals pursuing formal education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at educational institutions located in the New England and Albany/Schenectady areas. Designed to promote careers in the development and operation of pharma and biopharma enterprises, the Program favors future engineers and skilled professionals who will ensure these enterprises continue to grow, innovate and prosper.

Annual awards of up to $20,000 are designed to support full-time students pursuing Certificate, Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees. Applications are accepted once annually, and awards are sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution. The award covers one full academic year and is disbursed in two equal increments.

Eligibility

ISPE Members in good standing of the Boston Area Chapter and their non-member children entering their freshmen year are eligible to apply. Undergrad or grad students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university associate, bachelor, master, doctoral degree or certification program located in the New England or Albany/Schnectady areas and registered in a credit-bearing course or courses to which the scholarship award will be applied.

Subject to the conditions described above, the following individuals may apply:

  • Incoming freshmen.
  • Students in their freshman through senior years of undergraduate study.
  • Students entering or continuing post graduate study.
  • Students pursuing an associate degree or enrolled in a certification program.
  • Individuals seeking continuing education as part of their career development.*

*Continuing education applicants (those currently working in the industry) are required to submit documentation from their employer verifying that the course(s) to which the award applies are not eligible for tuition assistance or, if eligible for partial assistance, the amount the employer will reimburse the applicant must be noted in the application and deducted from the amount of scholarship requested.

Please note: As a condition of accepting a scholarship award from the Foundation, winners agree to permit use of the information provided in their application in ISPE Boston Area Chapter and Scholarship Foundation publications, both online and in print.
