The following individuals may apply, subject to the additional requirements described below:

• ISPE Members in good standing of the Boston Area Chapter and their non-member children that are entering school as a freshmen.
• Students pursuing a certificate in a focused area of study (Biotechnology for example)
• Students pursuing an Associate degree
• Students pursuing a Bachelor degree
• Students entering or continuing post graduate coursework (Masters or PhD)
• Students enrolled in an accredited college or university Associate, Bachelor, Master, Doctoral degree or certification program located in New England or the Albany/Schenectady area.

Applications are due Monday, June 3, 2024. Since completed applications require a written reference, applicants are encouraged to begin the process well in advance of the due date.

See application due date above. Back-up materials and reference are part of a complete application. Applications missing any necessary back-up materials and reference are considered incomplete and will not be reviewed by the Scholarship Foundation.

The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, except for major U.S. holidays.

Many factors affect your chances in any given round. Most important among these are the number of applicants and the strength of their qualifications. Taking the time to complete your application in a careful, thorough, and thoughtful manner is the best way to improve your chance of success.

An individual who can speak to your professional, academic, or job-related skills and accomplishments such as a professor, guidance counselor, or manager should write your letter of recommendation. It is recommended that family members or friends not be used as references. In addition, members of the Board of Directors of the ISPE Boston Area Chapter or Scholarship Foundation may not be used as references.

Letters of recommendation are submitted electronically through the scholarship application portal. The application asks for three references. Enter the email address of the one you have chosen to write your recommendation. When you submit your application, this individual will automatically receive a reference request via email, inviting them to go to the Foundation website and complete the written reference form. Once they have completed the form, it will automatically become part of your application.

Before clicking “Submit Your Application,” you should advise your reference to watch for the email, as it may go to a spam folder. You may only request one online reference, one time. (Note: Saving your application using “Save Only” will not generate a reference request.)

If you submit your application with an incorrect email address for your reference, please contact the Foundation office to have the address removed so that you can enter the correct one. This may not be possible if a legitimate reference has already been received.

Please contact the Foundation at office@ispebcsf.org or 781-327-5121. We will remove the reference’s email address so that you can re-enter it and submit your application again. This will generate a new email to your reference.

The scholarship awards can only be used to cover the costs billed to the student by the academic institution. It cannot be used to fund research.

All applicants will be notified in writing by August 1, 2024.

Several experienced evaluators review each application, section by section, using a rubric, or evaluation guideline, that the Foundation has developed. This ensures that all applications are judged by the same standard. The individual evaluations for each applicant are combined in order to determine the award winners.

Scholarship award payments will be sent via check from the Foundation directly to the Bursar’s office at your college/university to be applied to your student account. Scholarship award payments are not sent directly to recipients.

From the Scholarship Application page, do the following:

• Click on the blue “Update & Print” button.
• On the “Scholarship Application Update” page, enter your email address in the “Email Address” box.
• Click the “Retrieve Password” button.
• The system will look up your application. If it finds an email address match, it will send your password to you in an email.

As a condition of accepting a scholarship award from the Foundation, winners agree to permit use of the information provided in their application in ISPE Boston Area Chapter and Scholarship Foundation publications, both online and in print.
